We’ve updated our incoming inspection guideline for circular connector housings. The document, KW-QI-008 V1.0, applies to all MIL-DTL-38999 series shell components.We split the whole check list into 25 inspection points, grouped as Class A and Class B. The core idea is simple — we want better raw material control as soon as these shells arrive at our plant. Class A items are the must-pass critical features, which decide whether the connector can work properly out in the field.Should QA spot any failed sample in Class A testing, we reject the full batch right away. Our inspectors carefully check surface finish, plating condition, scratches and dents. They also verify thread quality, keyway structure, flange surface and grounding bosses.To get reliable readings, our team uses 10X magnifiers, calipers, CMM machines, profile projectors and thread gauges. Class B covers secondary performance items, like flatness of sealing grooves and coaxiality on mounting surfaces.Plating gets heavy focus here as well. We check plating category, coating thickness and salt spray performance. Tests for hydrogen embrittlement risk and plating bonding strength are also included. These checks catch hidden flaws that might only show up once connectors run under tough working conditions. Material validation cannot be skipped. Our QA staff verify alloy grade and hardness. They test shell conductivity and internal cleanliness too. Thread sections must be free of metal scraps and residual cutting fluid.
With this new inspection workflow, we can maintain stable quality for finished circular connectors.
